SUMMARY OF INCIDENTS FIXED BY THE PATCH
---------------------------------------
Patch ID: VRTScps-6.1.0.100
* 3466259 (3460406) The /opt/VRTScps/bin/vxcpserv process generates a core dump.

DETAILS OF INCIDENTS FIXED BY THE PATCH
---------------------------------------
This patch fixes the following Symantec incidents:

Patch ID: VRTScps-6.1.0.100

* 3466259 (Tracking ID: 3460406)

SYMPTOM:
The /opt/VRTScps/bin/vxcpserv process generates a core dump in
the /var/VRTScps/diag/ directory.

DESCRIPTION:
The /opt/VRTScps/bin/vxcpserv process sometimes generates a core
dump in the /var/VRTScps/diag/ directory during a normal operation on the CP
server. This happens because a library built into the vxcpserv process does not
support multithreading. The process generates a core dump when an API from this
library is called.

RESOLUTION:
Symantec has built the /opt/VRTScps/bin/vxcpserv process with the
correct library that supports multithreading.

INSTALLING THE PATCH
--------------------
Before installing VRTScps-6.1.0.100 patch on a Solaris 11 host, you can optionally create a boot environment (BE) and install VRTScps-6.1.0.100 on the new BE. Doing this makes it easier to revert to the current version of VRTScps if

required in future.

To create a new boot environment, perform below steps on each CP Server.

1. Identify the active boot environment (BE) by looking at the NR tag:
        # beadm list

2. Create a new boot environment:
        # beadm create <BE_name>

where BE_name is any valid name not listed in step 1.
    Example:
        # beadm create pre_cps_upgrade

 * To apply the patch manually, perform the steps listed below.

1. Run the following command on any node of CP server cluster to stop CPSSG service group.
# /opt/VRTSvcs/bin/hagrp -offline CPSSG -any

2. Perform the below steps on all nodes of the CP server cluster.

a. Apply the VRTScps patch by issuing the following commands:
   i. Unset any existing publisher which are not reachable
        # pkg unset-publisher <publisher>

   ii. Set the publisher
        # pkg set-publisher -p <path of VRTScps patch> Symantec
      e.g:
        # pkg set-publisher -p /hotfix_dir/patches/VRTScps.p5p Symantec

   iii. Install the package
        # pkg install --accept --no-backup-be VRTScps

b. Verify that the new patch is installed. The output of the following command should display the version for VRTScps package as 6.1.0.100:
        # pkg info VRTScps

c. # pkg unset-publisher Symantec

3. Start CPSSG service group again on the node where it was previously running.
# /opt/VRTSvcs/bin/hagrp -online CPSSG -sys <node>

REMOVING THE PATCH
------------------
On Solaris 11, patch removal is not supported. If you have created a new boot environment before installing the new VRTScps patch, you can revert to the boot environment which was in effect prior to that installation.

* To revert to previous boot environment, perform steps 1-3 below on each cluster node.

 1. Activate the boot environment which was in effect prior to installing this patch (noted in step 1 of 'To create a new boot environment' above):
        # beadm activate <previous_BE_name>

 2. Reboot the node so that the new boot environment takes effect:
        # reboot

 3. (optional) If you have no further use for the boot environment on which you installed the patch, you may destroy it:
        # beadm destroy

    Example:
        # beadm destroy pre_cps_upgrade

*If you did not create a new boot environment, you must uninstall the version of VRTScps included in this patch and then re-install the prior version of the package (6.1.0.000) from original source media.
