Etrack Incidents: 3599828

Issue:
1. While validating upgrade procedure with an encapsulated boot disk and with VVR RVG configured in the bootdg.
CPI will fail detecting the minor number and consequently fail the upgrade.
CPI ERROR V-9-0-0 Failed to get the bootdg device minor number

2. When you validate the upgrade procedure with an encapsulated boot disk and the disk group minoring is already set to 1000, the CPI fails the installation.

1. While validating upgrade procedure with an encapsulated boot disk and with Veritas Volume Replicator (VVR) RVG configured in the bootdg, CPI fails to detect the minor number. Consequently the upgrade fails. The following error message is displayed:
CPI ERROR V-9-0-0 Failed to get the bootdg device minor number

2. When you validate the upgrade procedure with an encapsulated boot disk, if the disk group minoring is already set to 1000, CPI fails to execute the upgrade because the vxdg(1M) command returns a non-zero exit code.

Solution:
1. Copy the hot-fix CPI_5.1SP1_P14.pl to /tmp
2. Run installation scripts with the hot-fix

Example:
./installer -require /tmp/CPI_5.1SP1_P14.pl

If you do not want to start processes after upgrading to 5.1SP1, run installer script with the "-nostart" option:

Example:
/installer -require /tmp/CPI_5.1SP1_P14.pl -nostart
