Resolution
-------------
This private includes the enhancement to support SCSI (including SCSI-3) persistent disk reservations on shared disks in an SFW storage environment with VCS One.
Install Instructions:
------------------------
1. If there are any service groups (that include MountV and VMDg resources) online on the node on which you wish to install this private, take those service groups offline. As for the other service groups (that do not include MountV, VMDg resources) that are online on the node, you can fail them over to another node.
2. Download and extract the Private zip file to a temporary location on the server farm node. The .zip file contains the setup executable file.
3. Doubleclick "Setup.exe" file to install the private on the server farm node.
The msi installer performs the required installation tasks.
The SCSI protocol is set to SCSI-3 on the node.
4. Restart the node.
5. Repeat these steps on all the required server farm nodes and then bring the service groups online.
Refer to the VCS One 2.0 documentation for instructions on how to enable SCSI persistent disk reservations.
Verifying the installation
----------------------------
After the private installation is complete, you can perform the following steps to verify that the installation is successful:
1. On one of the nodes, click "Start > Run", type "regedit", and then click "OK" to open the registry editor.
2. From the registry tree on the left, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeVeritasVxSvcCurrentVersionVolumeManagerSupportSCSI3.
If the value appears as 2, then the hotfix is installed successfully.
Known issues
-------------
After installing the SCSI support hotfix, the SCSI reservation method is set to SCSI-3 by default. However, the SCSI Protocol tab in Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) | Control Panel | StorageAgent | System Settings displays SCSI-2 as the setting.
You can ignore this setting. Do not change this setting to SCSI-3. Refer to the VCS One 2.0 documentation for instructions on how to enable SCSI persistent disk reservations.
DISCLAIMER
-----------
This Private is a supported fix that has not been fully regression tested. Install this hotfix only if you wish to use SCSI-based reservations in an SFW storage environment with VCS One. If you remove this hotfix, you may not be able to use SCSI reservations in an SFW storage environment with VCS One. Contact Symantec Technical Support for more information.
