This patch fixes the following Symantec incidents:

* 2175575 (Tracking ID: 2273936)

SYMPTOM:
The /sbin/init.d/gab script fails to stop GAB. The following message appears in 
the syslogs:
"GAB ERROR V-15-1-20015 unconfigure failed: clients still registered"
The "gabconfig -a" command fails to list registered ports other than port "a".

DESCRIPTION:
If GAB is in the process of handling the registration request from the client, 
then the "/sbin/init.d/gab stop" command fails to stop GAB. Also, 
the "gabconfig -a" command does not list the client port because the 
registration of the client is not complete at that stage.

RESOLUTION:
Symantec has modified the /sbin/init.d/gab script to retry stopping GAB, if it 
fails to stop GAB at the first attempt. The script retries after 1 second. 
Symantec has set the maximum number of retry attempts to 30.


INSTALLING THE PATCH
--------------------
To Install the PHNE_41896 patch on your system, execute
        the following steps on all the nodes in the cluster:
        1. Unconfigure GAB:
           # /sbin/gabconfig -U
        2. Unload GAB driver:
           # kcmodule gab=unused
        3. Unzip the tar-zipped GAB patch that you downloaded from
           the Symantec site to a directory of your choice (ex. </dir>  )
        4. Run the swinstall command to install the patch:
           # swinstall -s </dir> /PHNE_41896.depot PHNE_41896
        NOTE: This patch will supersede VRTSgab mp1 patch.

        5. Reboot the node.


REMOVING THE PATCH
------------------
To remove/un-install the PHNE_41896 patch from your system,
        execute the following steps on all the nodes in the cluster:
        1. To stop the stack, perform steps 1 and 2 from the
           installation procedure.
        2. To remove the patch from the cluster node, run
           the following command:
           # swremove PHNE_41896
        3. Reboot the node.
