I. OVERVIEW:
------------
Symantec FileStore provides a scalable clustered storage solution. This document provides release information for the patch.

II. UPGRADE PROCEDURE:
----------------------
After you have installed or synchronized a new SFS patch into your cluster, the list of available commands may change. Please login again to the CLI to access the updated features. Because this is a phased upgrade process, please bring down the services manually, then start with the patch installation. After you apply this patch, you cannot uninstall it. Please take notice that the 5.6 P2 patch can only be installed on 5.6 or 5.6 P1.

To install the patch:
1. Login as master:
   su - master
2. Start the patch install:
   upgrade patch install <URL>

IMPORTANT: Full upgrade instructions are included in the FileStore 5.6 Release Notes. IMPORTANT: Please note the following revision:

When you upgrade:

* Symantec recommends that you remove I/O fencing before upgrading any cluster node or exporting your current configuration. Use the Storage> fencing off command first followed by the Storage> fencing destroy command to remove I/O fencing. This step is not required, but it is suggested for a clean upgrade.

III. FIXES IN THE NEW PATCH:
----------------------------

Etrack Incidents: 2241571, 2243059, 2251966, 2193014, 2230350, 2235724, 2245734, 2250406, 2253311, 2254193, 2275522, 2244924

Errors/Problems Fixed:
2217914, 2241571 The audit log consumes an extensive amount of disk space.
2243058, 2243059 The vx_lookup fails.
2251179, 2251966 Administrator can use "CIFS> local user" interface commands to create and delete special, reserved system accounts, such as root.
2229437, 2193014 When a mirrored volume fails, newly-added data may be lost.
2227065, 2230350 When a client accesses a CIFS normal share, it displays file system information instead of user information.
2235944, 2235724 The shutdown.sh process is killed unexpectedly when you enter the Cluster> reboot all command.
2211731, 2245734 The Storage> fs online command fails when there are more than 100 million files.
2251426, 2250406 After an upgrade, some VIP addresses are not migrated and the CVM/NFS service faulted.
2253308, 2253311 Adding a new master user fails.
2237171, 2254193 The resource CTDBshare_100 fails during a stress test in ctdb clustering mode.
2272184, 2275522 Replication job failed because the file change log (FCL) failed to open in the source file system.
2216996, 2244924 After installing the FileStore 5.6 P1 patch, Symantec AntiVirus for FileStore did not start on the master node.

IV. ENHANCEMENTS AND NEW FEATURES:
----------------------------------

Etrack Incident: 2219191

Support data migration for CIFS. Use the CIFS> set data_migration command to enable CIFS data migration. For more information, see the FileStore 5.6 Release Notes.

Etrack Incidents: 2223746, 2247315

Fencing over iSCSI LUNs is now supported.

Etrack Incident: 2269090

A new script has been added to enable rearranging and reorganizing of public interfaces. This feature supports swapping public interfaces on secondary nodes. The script is located at /opt/VRTSnasgw/scripts/swap_clusteraware.sh. You must use the support login to run the script.

Etrack Incident: 2242576

UDP Ports 3172, 3173 and 161 are now available.

Etrack Incident: 2252177

Performance for the Storage> fs addmirror command has been enhanced to speed-up execution on large volumes.

Etrack Incident: 2298400

Previously, using the Support> services autofix command would restart the Symantec AntiVirus for FileStore service even if the Symantec AntiVirus for FileStore service was stopped intentionally by using the Antivirus> service stop command. This has been fixed. The Symantec AntiVirus for FileStore service remains stopped until you execute the Antivirus> service start command.

Etrack Incident: 2294302

A new FTP> set user_logon command is available. This command specifies whether to allow FTP access for users.

To allow FTP access, enter the following:

FTP> set user_logon yes

To prevent FTP access, enter the following:

FTP> set user_logon no

By default, FTP access for users is enabled.

V. Known Issues:
----------------

Etrack Incident: 2196782

Symptom: Unable to use the FileStore Management Console (GUI) to install a device driver from the FileStore Driver Update Disk (DUD).

Description: When you use the Settings > Upgrade feature in the FileStore Management Console to unstall a DUD device driver, the upgrade fails.

Workaround: Use the FileStore Upgrade> patch install and the Upgrade> patch duduninstall CLI commands to install and uninstall device drivers.

Etrack Incident: 2281651

Symptom: Cannot detatch pools that contain an NLM internal file system.

Description: In some cases, when you run the Storage> pool detachset command, the following error message displays: "SFS Storage ERROR V-288-2265 One of the pools you want to detach contains Filestore internal filesystem (_nlm_). Cannot detach pool containing this special file system."

NLM is a FileStore internal file system which the cluster uses for storing NFS lock manager (NLM) data and the replication database. This cluster-wide file system is created transparently when the first file system is created and is deleted when the last file system is deleted.

Workround: There is no workaround for this issue. It will be fixed in a future release. To avoid this issue, create the pool to be detached after the NLM file system has been created.
