INCIDENTS FIXED BY THE PATCH

This patch fixes the following Symantec incidents:

SYMPTOM:
The LDAP authentication request from the VOM Console through LDAP servers times 
out and login to the console is denied.

DESCRIPTION:
During LDAP authentication, by default, the referral chasing is turned ON. In 
this case, if parent scope is selected as a search base for LDAP domain 
configuration then authentication through this LDAP domain times out.

RESOLUTION:
The referral chasing is turned OFF by default. Due to this, while 
authentication, user will be searched in the specified search base only.


INSTALLING THE PATCH
--------------------
1. Download the file "HF040010970-01.sfa".
2. Launch a browser and login to the VOM Central Management Server (CMS) console.
3. Navigate to "Settings ->  Deployment Management".
4. Upload the add-on [HF040010970-01.sfa] to the VOM CMS using the "Upload" button.
5. Stop "Veritas Operations Manager Authentication Service". (See the "STOPPING Authentication Service STEPS" section.)
6. Do not logout and make sure that session is not expired.
7. Follow the steps below to apply the hotfix:
 7.a) Once the add-on with the name HF040010970-01 is visible under the table below, the user can choose (via option "Install") to deploy this on the hosts.
8. Start "Veritas Operations Manager Authentication Service". See the "STARTING Authentication Service STEPS" section.


REMOVING THE PATCH
------------------
1. Launch a browser and login to the VOM Central Management Server (CMS) console.
2. Navigate to "Settings ->   Deployment Management".
3. Stop "Veritas Operations Manager Authentication Service". (See the "STOPPING Authentication Service STEPS" section.)
4. Do not logout and make sure that session is not expired.
5. Follow the steps below to uninstall the hotfix:
 5.a) Select the add-on and click "Uninstall".
6. Start "Veritas Operations Manager Authentication Service". See the "STARTING Authentication Service STEPS" section.

Case 1. steps for High Availability (HA) CMS
 1.a) Freeze "Veritas Operation Manager Service Group (SFM_Services)". Go to "Manage ->  Clusters ->  Service Group Tab". Select SFM_Services and click Freeze.
 1.b) Stop "Veritas Operations Manager Authentication Service" using following command
    Unix :- /opt/VRTSsfmcs/sec/bin/sfmsecdctrl stop
    Windows:- net stop sfmsecd

Case 2. steps for non-HA CMS
 2.a) Stop "Veritas Operations Manager Authentication Service" using following command
    Unix :- /opt/VRTSsfmcs/sec/bin/sfmsecdctrl stop
    Windows:- net stop sfmsecd
