Date:2012-July-13 OS: Solaris, Windows Etrack Incidents: 2801873, 2801588, 2815383, 2811869, 2725121, 2745847, 2766043 Errors/Problems Fixed:[ - 'Total LUN Capacity' of IBM XIV array is getting reported much less than 'Allocated LUN capacity'(e2801873) - 'Drive Type' of Physical Disks is not available for EMC Symmetrix DMX and HP-XP arrays(e2801588) - Some of the HP-EVA array environmental collectors are missing values(e2815383) - Some of the IBM tape drives are discovered as Unidentified Adapters and some as Unenclosed Devices. All of the tape drives should have been discovered as Unenclosed Devices (e2811869) - CommandCentral Storage is not able to discover Brocade Virtual Fabrics/Switches correctly (e2725121) - CommandCentral Storage is not able to discover Vmware Virtual Machines (e2745847) - Support for Brocade DCX-8510 16Gb port speed (e2766043) ] Install/Uninstall Instructions: =========================================================================== Instructions to apply the hotfix =========================================================================== A - Overview of the HotFix --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Apply the HotFix (VRTSccs-F520032801873) on CommandCentral Storage 5.2RU3 Management Servers and Control Hosts (Managed Hosts having array and switch explorers). - Supported operating systems include: - Solaris 8, 9, and 10 - Windows Server 2000, 2003, and 2008 - Expected time taken by hotfix installation process is around 15 minutes. B - Deploying the HotFix from Windows Management Server -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The examples in the following procedure assume that you installed CommandCentral on a 32-bit host in the default installation directory. 1. Copy ccs-5.2RU3HF520032801873w1-patches.zip to a temporary location. For example, to C:\Temp 2. After extracting the hotfix, the below two files will be available. - patches - patches\VRTSccs-F520032801873.tar.gz - README (this file) 3. To apply the update on Management Server, do the following: - Open an operating system console. - Change to the HAL bin directory: C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage\HAL\bin; - Type the following command to deploy the update on the Management Server: <HAL bin dir>\perl LocalUpgrade.pl "C:\Temp\patches\VRTSccs-F520032801873.tar.gz" 4. To verify the installation, you can check the installation logs as follows: - To see the detailed logs, go to the 'CommandCentral Storage Data' directory. The default location is: C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage Data\Data\HAL\maint; cd <HAL data dir>\Data\HAL\maint\VRTSccs-F520032801873\<timestamp>\output; For example: cd C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage Data\Data\HAL\maint\VRTSccs-F520032801873\<time stamp>\output - Check if there are any errors in the stderr.txt file. - Check the detailed logs of the hotfix application in the stdout.txt file. 5. To push the update to Control Hosts(Managed Host having array and switch explorers), run the following commands from the Management Server: - Go to the HAL bin directory: "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage\HAL\bin" - Type the following command: halsecurity login You may have to provide the password for the 'admin' account which you use to log in to the Console. The default password for this account is 'password' (without single quotes). - To get a list of all Control Hosts in a text file, run the following command: perl CHMGetManagedHosts.pl -f C:\Temp\mhs.txt The text file includes the list of all hosts. - Edit this file to keep only the names of those hosts that you want to update. - To deploy the update to the hosts listed in C:\Temp\mhs.txt, run the following command: perl PushUpgrade.pl -u "C:\Temp\patches\VRTSccs-F520032801873.tar.gz" -H C:\Temp\mhs.txt 6. To verify the installation, check the install logs on the relevant managed hosts as follows: - Go to the CommandCentral HAL Data directory: For Windows hosts: "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage Data\Data\HAL\maint\VRTSccs-F520032801873\output" For UNIX hosts: /var/VRTSccs/data/VRTShal/maint/VRTSccs-F520032801873/output - Check if there are any errors in the stderr.txt file. - Check the detailed logs of the hotfix application in the stdout.txt file. 7. Verify the updated version as follows: - Open cc_version.txt from the following directory: For Windows: "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\CommandCentral Storage\Version" For UNIX: /opt/VRTS/version/ - Check the FIXID. To apply the update on the Management Server, do following: - Go to the HAL bin directory: /opt/VRTSccs/VRTShal/bin - Type the following command: ./perl LocalUpgrade.pl /tmp/patches/VRTSccs-F520032801873.tar.gz 4. To verify the installation, check the installation logs on the Management Server as follows: - Go to the CommandCentral Storage HAL Data directory: /var/VRTSccs/data/VRTShal/maint/VRTSccs-F520032801873/output - Check if there are any errors in the stderr.txt file. - Check the detailed logs of the hotfix application in the stdout.txt file. 5.
