INCIDENTS FIXED BY THE PATCH

This patch fixes the following Symantec incidents:

* 3046832 (Tracking ID: 3067192)

SYMPTOM:
vomgather is failing with tar error while archiving the required files and directories.

DESCRIPTION:
When a file or directory is under modification and tar is trying to
archive the modified files or directory, it is throwing an error

RESOLUTION:
During tar, it should ensured that no files or directories are
changing. Stop the xprtld service during vomgather so that no discovery should
run and temporary files for scheduled discoveries will not be created during tar.


INSTALLING THE PATCH
--------------------
This hotfix is applicable for Linux, Solaris and Windows VOM Management Server.

1. Download the file HF050001960-17.sfa
2. Launch a browser and login to the VOM Management Server.
3. Navigate to Settings; Deployment Management tab.
4. Upload the HF or add-on to the VOM CMS. HF050001960-17 should be visible in the table below.
5. Select the HF and click the Install button.
6. This will install the HF on the CMS. 
7. The VOM webserver will be restarted. User will need to relogin in VOM UI once the webserver is up.


REMOVING THE PATCH
------------------
1. Launch a browser and login to the VOM Management Server.
2. Navigate to Settings; Deployment Management tab.
3. Remove instruction for HF from VOM CMS
   - Click the HF or add-on and it takes you to the Deployment Summary page
     Select VOM CMS host and uninstall the HF.
