This document contains information about installing patches for
products in the VERITAS Storage Foundation? and High Availability
Solutions 4.1 Maintenance Pack 2 release. Patches for the following
products are on the accompanying 4.1 Maintenance Pack 2 software disc:

The VERITAS 4.1 release of Storage Foundation and High Availability
Solutions must be installed before updating with Maintenance Pack 2
patches. If you have not yet installed Storage Foundation and High
Availability Solutions, see the VERITAS Storage Foundation and High
Availability Solutions Getting Started Guide for the location of release notes
and installation instructions.
If you already have the 4.1 release of Storage Foundation and High
Availability Solutions installed on your system, see “Installing Patches”
on page 5 for the location of Maintenance Pack 2 patch installation
instructions.
VERITAS 4.1 products operate only on the HP-UX 11i 64-bit operating
systems with the September 2002 HP-UX 11i version 2.0 (or later) release
installed.

Support Tools
Diagnostic tools are available to assist in troubleshooting problems
associated with these products. These tools are available on disc or can
be downloaded from the VERITAS FTP site. See the README.VRTSspt
file in the support directory for details.
Patch Installation Script
You install patches to VERITAS packages by running the patch
installation script, install_vp, from the command line. The
install_vp script is at the top level of the 4.1 Maintenance Pack 2 disc.
The install_vp script checks for installed VERITAS packages and
installs the appropriate patches. After adding patches, the script
prompts you to reboot the system. The install_vp script cannot
remove patches. Use the swremove command to remove patches.

Mounting the 4.1 Maintenance Pack 2 Software Disc
VERITAS software is provided on a DVD format disc. To mount the
software disc:
1. Insert the VERITAS software disc into a DVD drive connected to
your system and login as superuser:
$ su root
2. Determine the block device file for the DVD drive:
# ioscan -fnC disk
Make a note of the device file as it applies to your system.
3. Create a directory in which to mount the software disc and mount
the disc using the appropriate drive name. For example:
# mkdir -p /dvdrom
# /usr/sbin/mount -F cdfs /dev/dsk/c3t2d0 /dvdrom
4. Verify that the disc is mounted:
# mount
5. Change to the appropriate directory and product subdirectory to
view the product release notes or installation guides.

Installing Patches
After mounting the software disc, change to the product directory and
read the release notes for installation information.
> To upgrade VERITAS Cluster Server:
# cd /dvdrom/cluster_server/release_notes
Follow the instructions in the file vcs_notes.pdf.
> To upgrade VERITAS Cluster Server Enterprise Agent for Oracle:
# cd /dvdrom/cluster_server_agents/oracle_agent
Follow the instructions in the README file.
> To upgrade VERITAS File System:
# cd /dvdrom/file_system/release_notes
Follow the instructions in the file sf_notes.pdf.
> To upgrade VERITAS Storage Foundation:
# cd /dvdrom/storage_foundation/release_notes
Follow the instructions in the file sf_notes.pdf.

> To upgrade VERITAS Storage Foundation Cluster File System:
# cd /dvdrom/storage_foundation_cluster_file_\
system/release_notes
Follow the instructions in the file sfcfs_notes.pdf.
> This release of VERITAS Storage Foundation for Oracle RAC
introduces support for Oracle 10 g. To upgrade:
# cd /dvdrom/storage_foundation_for_ \
oracle_rac/release_notes
Follow the instructions in the file sfrac_notes.pdf. See also the
file README_41MP2.
> To upgrade VERITAS Volume Manager:
# cd /dvdrom/volume_manager/release_notes
