SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
--------------------

Managed hosts with duplicate virtual machine identifiers are purged.
VOM can managed virtual hosts (configured as agents) only if they have
unique virtual machine identifiers. If multiple such hosts are found
then the duplicate hosts are automatically purged from VOM.

This happens in 2 cases:-

1) VOM MS is upgraded to 6.0. Hosts which are configured as agents in
VOM having duplicate virtual machine identifiers will be purged
from VOM during the upgrade process.

To identify the hosts that will get purged, install the Hotfix HF040101190-30
on VOM 4.1 MS.
Execute the script check_duplicate_vmid.pl installed by this hotfix to
see the list of duplicate virtual machines configured to VOM.
After the MS is upgraded to 6.0 re-add these hosts to VOM with unique
virtual machine identifiers.

2) New host getting added to VOM with a VM ID that is already associated with
an existing managed host. In this case the existing managed host data
is removed from VOM and only the newly added host will be seen in the UI.

Ensure that while adding new virtual machines to VOM they have unique
UUIDs assigned to them.
(e.g. unique BIOSUUID in case of VMware virtual machines)

To run the new Perl script to find duplicate virtual machine IDs:

Run on Linux:
  /opt/VRTSsfmcs/bin/check_duplicate_vmid.pl

Run on Windows:
  \Program Files\Veritas\VRTSsfmh\bin\perl.exe \Program Files\Veritas\VRTSsfmcs\bin\check_duplicate_vmid.pl
