Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) lets you perform common maintenance tasks on volumes. These include the following:

Displaying volume information
Monitoring tasks
Resizing volumes
Adding and removing logs
Adding and removing mirrors
Removing volumes
Changing the layout of volumes without taking them offline

You can also use the Veritas Intelligent Storage Provisioning (ISP) feature to create and administer application volumes. These volumes are very similar to the traditional VxVM volumes that are described in this chapter. However, there are significant differences between the functionality of the two types of volumes that prevent them from being used interchangeably.
