The steps to create and implement an agent are described by example in later chapters.
Decide whether to implement the agent entry points using C++ code, scripts, or a combination of the two.
See Considerations for using C++ or script entry points.
See Creating entry points in C++.
See Creating entry points in scripts.
Build the agent, create required files, and place the agent in specific directories.
The types.cf
file contains definitions of resource types that come bundled with VCS. A custom resource type definition should be placed in a file called Resourcetype
Types.cf
, for example, MyResourceTypes.cf or OracleTypes.cf. This file is referenced as an "include" statement in the configuration file, main.cf
.
For more information about the resource type definition, see
For building an agent, sample files are provided.
On UNIX systems, create a symbolic link called resource_typeAgent to the ScriptAgent or the Script50Agent in the appropriate directory:
$VCS_HOME/bin/
resource_type.
Test the agent by defining the resource type in a configuration.
See Testing agents.
