NAME

vxlicinst - Installs a Symantec license key.

SYNOPSIS

vxlicinst vxlicinst -k LicenseKey [-q] vxlicinst [-uma]

DESCRIPTION

Installs a Symantec license key that you supply when issuing the command. You must enter the license key in single-byte ASCII characters. If no arguments are provided, the utility prompts you for the license key.


ARGUMENTS

-k LicenseKey
Identifies the license key to be installed. The -k signals your intent to use the utility in non-interactive mode. Non-interactive mode requires you to provide the license key as argument to the command.

Enter -k followed by the license key string for the product. You must enter the license key in single-byte ASCII characters. You can provide more than one key, each separated by a comma.

-q
Suppresses verbose mode during installation. Use this option only when using the -k LicenseKey option.

OPTIONS

-u
Displays the Host ID for the local system.
-m
Displays the architecture type (system model) for the local system.
-a
Windows only. Displays the media access control (MAC) address for the local system.
-h
Lists and describes the command line switches available for this command.
-v
Displays the version of this utility.

EXAMPLES

The following examples install one or more keys: vxlicinst -k PR66-WPBD-NZCY-P3ZP-CPOP -q vxlicinst -k PR66-WPBD-NZCY-P3ZP-CPOP,PQ95-ORDE-NZCY-P3ZP

The following example displays a system's architecture/model type: vxlicinst -m

Sample output display: SUNW,Ultra-5_10


EXIT STATUS

The following exit values are returned:

0 Successful completion

\>0 An error occurred
