vea - launches the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (Java console).
vea [-v] [-d] [-p timeMinutes] [-cp userPath] [-DVAR=%VAR%] [-host remote_hostname] [-help]
vea
launches the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (Java console) as a standalone application with the specified options.

Checks if
USER HOME
is set. If it is not set,
vea
exits with an error message. If
USER HOME
is set,
vea
creates the following directories, if they do not already exist:

USER_HOME/.VRTSob
-
USER_HOME/.VRTSob/extensions
(to save downloaded extensions)
-
USER_HOME/.VRTSob/log
(to create the debug log)
-
USER_HOME/.VRTSob/msgCatalogs
(to save downloaded message catalogs)
-
USER_HOME/.VRTSob/preference
(to save user preferences)
-
USER_HOME/.VRTSob/wallets
(to save user preferences)
-
Sets appropriate permissions on the newly-created directories.

Checks if the
DISPLAY
variable is set. If the command is invoked from a remote host, and the
DISPLAY
variable is not set,
vea
exits with an error message.
vea
resides by default in:
/opt/VRTSob/bin

Prints the VEA (Java console) version number.

-d, -debug
-
Runs the VEA (Java console) in debug mode.

-p timeMinutes
-
Specifies the frequency (in minutes) for the VEA Java console to ping the Local Controller (vxsvc).

-cp userPath
-
Specifies the user\(cqs class path (for libraries) to be appended to the application\(cqs class path.

-DVAR\:=%VAR%\:,

Specifies the environment variable for the Java directory (Windows only).

-host remote_hostname
-
Connects to a Local Controller (vxsvc) on a remote host at startup.
remote_hostname
is a host name, fully qualified host name, or IP address of the remote host on which you want to connect to a Local Controller.

Prints all options supported by
vea
(Windows only).
