migrate - migrates Storage Foundation 5.0 hosts to and from a Veritas Storage Foundation Management Server centrally managed host
migrate {central_mode|standalone_mode} -d domain_controller [-p password] [-f | --force]
migrate
changes Storage Foundation 5.0 standalone hosts to Veritas Storage Foundation Management Server centrally managed hosts, and migrates Storage Foundation 5.0 centrally managed hosts to standalone hosts.
SF Manager can manage Storage Foundation 4.x hosts; however, you must install the Veritas Storage Foundation 4.x Host Management package on them.

central_mode
-
Causes migrate to update the host to a host centrally managed by a Veritas Storage Foundation Manager.

standalone_mode
-
Causes migrate to update the host to a host no longer centrally managed by a Veritas Storage Foundation Manager. In this mode, the host can be managed directly through the Local Controller using the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA Java Console).

-d domain_controller
-
Name of the Veritas Storage Foundation Manager that will manage the host, or the name of the Management Server that you no longer want to manage the host.
domain_controller
can be the Management Server short name, IP address, or fully-qualified host name.

-p password
-
(Optional) Password for the VxPAL agent\(cqs account for the host that you are migrating.
If you do not specify a password on the command-line, then
migrate
prompts for one and does not display the password as you type it. The
-p password
option is for those who want to use
migrate
in scripts.

-f , --force
-
(standalone_mode only) Force option used to migrate a managed host to a standalone host in cases when the Management Server is unconfigured or down for some reason.
By default,
migrate
resides in:
/opt/VRTSmh/bin
You can move one managed host from the current Management Server to another Management Server server following these steps.

Migrate the managed host from the current Management Server to standalone mode.

Migrate from standalone mode to the new Management Server.
This section provides usage examples for
migrate.
EXAMPLE 1:
The following command migrates a Storage Foundation host to an SF Manager centrally managed host:
migrate central_mode -d centralserver.example.com
EXAMPLE 2:
The following command migrates an SF Manager centrally managed host to a Storage Foundation standalone host:
migrate standalone_mode -d centralserver.example.com
