NAME

migrate - migrates Storage Foundation 5.0 hosts to and from a Veritas Storage Foundation Management Server centrally managed host

SYNOPSIS

migrate {central_mode|standalone_mode} -d domain_controller [-p password] [-f | --force]

DESCRIPTION

migrate changes Storage Foundation 5.0 standalone hosts to Veritas Storage Foundation Management Server centrally managed hosts, and migrates Storage Foundation 5.0 centrally managed hosts to standalone hosts.

SF Manager can manage Storage Foundation 4.x hosts; however, you must install the Veritas Storage Foundation 4.x Host Management package on them.

See the Storage Foundation Installation Guide.

OPTIONS

central_mode
Causes migrate to update the host to a host centrally managed by a Veritas Storage Foundation Manager.
standalone_mode
Causes migrate to update the host to a host no longer centrally managed by a Veritas Storage Foundation Manager. In this mode, the host can be managed directly through the Local Controller using the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA Java Console).
-d domain_controller
Name of the Veritas Storage Foundation Manager that will manage the host, or the name of the Management Server that you no longer want to manage the host. domain_controller can be the Management Server short name, IP address, or fully-qualified host name.
-p password
(Optional) Password for the VxPAL agent\(cqs account for the host that you are migrating. If you do not specify a password on the command-line, then migrate prompts for one and does not display the password as you type it. The -p password option is for those who want to use migrate in scripts.
-f , --force
(standalone_mode only) Force option used to migrate a managed host to a standalone host in cases when the Management Server is unconfigured or down for some reason.

NOTES

By default, migrate resides in: /opt/VRTSmh/bin

You can move one managed host from the current Management Server to another Management Server server following these steps.

1.
Migrate the managed host from the current Management Server to standalone mode.
2.
Migrate from standalone mode to the new Management Server.
