NAME

vxsvcctrl - starts, restarts, or shuts down the Domain or Local Controller or gets the status or version of the Controller.

SYNOPSIS

vxsvcctrl {start | stop | restart | status | version}


DESCRIPTION

vxsvcctrl starts, restarts, or shuts down the Domain or Local Controller daemon, vxsvc. It also gets the status or version of the daemon. vxsvcctrl works only on UNIX.

When run on a Veritas Storage Foundation Manager, vxsvc is referred to as the Domain Controller; when run on a standalone host, vxsvc is referred to as the Local Controller or the VxPAL service for the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA Java Console) to connect to and manage the local host.


OPTIONS

start
Starts the Domain or Local Controller.
stop
Stops (kills) the Domain or Local Controller.
restart
Restarts the Domain or Local Controller.
status
Displays information about the current instance of the Domain or Local Controller without starting or stopping the Controller.
version
Displays the the Domain or Local Controller version number and copyright information.

NOTES

On UNIX, vxsvcctrl resides, by default, in /opt/VRTSob/bin.
