vxmpio (1M)

NAME

vxmpio - utility to disable or enable AIX Multi-Path I/O (MPIO)

SYNOPSIS

/etc/vx/bin/vxmpio disable pid='product_id'

/etc/vx/bin/vxmpio enable pid='product_id'

DESCRIPTION

The vxmpio utility controls whether the specified type of storage array is controlled by MPIO or is claimed under the Veritas Dynamic Multi-Pathing driver. Use the vxmpio utility to disable or enable MPIO for devices with the specified product ID (pid). You must reboot the system for the changes to take effect. When you disable MPIO, the specified devices are claimed under the Veritas Dynamic Multi-Pathing driver after the reboot. When you enable MPIO, the specified devices are removed from Veritas Dynamic Multi-Pathing control and claimed under MPIO.

OPTIONS

disable Prevent MPIO from claiming devices with the specified product ID (pid).
enable   Allow MPIO to claim devices with the specified product ID (pid).
To obtain the pid, use the lscfg -vl device command. The pid is displayed in the Machine Type and Model field. If the value contains a space, then enclose the value in single quotes to pass the value to the vxmpio utility.

Disabling Disabling MPIO for IBM DS5000.

Currently there are no Object Data Manager (ODM) definitions available for IBM DS5000. Use the vxmpio utility to disable MPIO for IBM DS5000.

After vxmpio completes successfully, reboot the system for the changes to take effect. After the system reboots, the DMP driver claims the IBM DS5000 devices.
