To configure an application for high availability, you must install the Symantec High Availability guest components on the systems where you want to configure the application.
The Symantec High Availability guest components include Symantec Cluster Server for Windows (VCSW), Symantec Storage Foundation and High Availability Solution for Windows (SFW HA) and Symantec ApplicationHA. While VCSW and SFW HA enables you to configure application monitoring in a failover mode, Symantec ApplicationHA enables you to configure application monitoring in a start/stop mode only. You must install the guest components depending on the type of configuration and storage disks you plan to have.
You can install the guest components in the following ways:
Using the product installer
Use this method to install the guest components in physical or virtual environments.

Using the command line interface (CLI)
Use this method to install the guest components in physical or virtual environment.
For more details refer to the product installation and upgrade guide for the guest components you plan to install.
Using the VMware vSphere client integrated menu
Use this method to install the guest components in a VMware environment only.

You cannot install SFW HA using this method. If you want to install SFW HA as the guest components, you must install the same using the product installer or the CLI. |
