Testing agents

Agents can be tested using:

• The VCSVeritas Cluster Server engine

  (See Using the engine process to test agents)

• The AgentServer utility

  (See Using the AgentServer utility to test agents)

Before testing an agent, make sure you complete the following tasks:

Built the agent binary and put it in the directory $VCS_HOME/bin/resource_type.

Built the agent DLL and place it in the directory %VCS_HOME%\bin\resource_type.

Build the agent binary.

• For UNIX and Linux, put it in the directory $VAD_HOME/bin/resource_type.
• For Windows, put it in %VAD_HOME%\bin\resource_type.

  Installed script entry points in the directory $VCS_HOME/bin/resource_type.

  Install script entry points in the directory %VCS_HOME%\bin\resource_type.

  Installed the script entry points in the appropriate directory:

• For UNIX and Linux, $VAD_HOME/bin/resource_type.
• For Windows, %VAD_HOME%\bin\resource_type.

If you are using the VCSVeritas Cluster Server engine process to test the agent, make sure you have:

Defined the resource type in agentTypes.cfxml, defined the resources in main.xmlmain.cf, and restarted the engine. You may define the new type and resources using commands from the command line.
