In older DLVs an inconsistent file system would have stayed mounted and functional. However, if the same was unmounted for any reason, it was not possible to mount the same without a complete fsck. In 7.1, it is possible to attempt to mount an inconsistent file system, so that any immediate need of data availability is met. Also, a full fsck can be scheduled at a more convenient time. For more info see the delayfsck option in the mount_vxfs (1M) command.
