Configuring Oracle instances in VCS

You can set up Oracle in different ways in a VCS environment. Configuring Oracle for VCS involves configuring the Oracle files listener.ora and tnsnames.ora as per VCS requirements.

Table: Oracle configurations in VCS

Configuration type

Single Oracle instance configuration

Multiple Oracle instances (single listener) configuration

Multiple Oracle instances (multiple listeners) configuration

Configuration with shared server support

Make sure that the Oracle files $TNS_ADMIN/listener.ora and $TNS_ADMIN/tnsnames.ora are identical across the cluster nodes. If the files are not identical, remote copy the files from a local node to the other nodes in the cluster.
