A cluster deployment in a Hyper-V environment involves on-host or in-guest SFW installation.

The following diagram represents on-host SFW installation. The application data is stored on the shared disks and the cache area is created on the locally attached SSD.

SmartIO behavior after a failover to Node 2:

If the data volumes on Node 1 are linked to an auto cache area:
- Links the data volumes to an auto cache area on Node 2
- If an auto cache area is not available on Node 2, does not link the volumes to any cache area
If the data volumes on Node 1 are linked to a noauto cache area:
- Links the data volumes to a noauto cache area available on Node 2 (the noauto cache area with the same name as that on Node1 takes priority)
- If a noauto cache area is not available on Node 2, link the volumes to an auto cache area that is available on Node 2
