Configuring a virtual business service

After configuring a VBS in Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager, you can administer the VBS by using the Management Server or by using the command line interface on managed hosts. The VBS can have Microsoft Failover Clustering tiers in addition to the VCS and ApplicationHA tiers. You can also create a VBS entirely of Microsoft Failover Clustering or VCS tiers.

Virtual Business Services operations treat the Microsoft Failover Clustering tiers in the same way as VCS and Application HA tiers. Microsoft Failover Clustering tiers are brought online and taken offline in the same way as VCS or ApplicationHA tiers. However, the Microsoft Failover Clustering tiers are allowed to participate only in soft dependencies. Thus a fault or recovery in a Microsoft Failover Clustering tier does not trigger any action on its parent tiers. Moreover, no action will be taken on a failover clustering tier upon fault or recovery of its child tiers. VBS does not propagate fault or recovery actions beyond a Microsoft Failover Clustering tier.

Note:

Microsoft Failover Clustering roles or resource groups called Cluster Group and Available Storage must not be added in the VBS.
