You can use the product installer to upgrade VCS.
To upgrade VCS using the product installer
# ./installer
The installer starts the product installation program with a copyright message. It then specifies where it creates the logs. Note the log's directory and name.
Do you want to generate certificates for the Veritas InfoScale Enterprise components with 2048 bit encryption keys and SHA256 signatures? [y,n,q,?]
You can enter y and upgrade to 2048 bit key and SHA256 signature certificates at this stage or perform the upgrade later.
Do you want to grant read access to everyone? [y,n,q,?]
Do you want to provide any usergroups that you would like to grant read access?[y,n,q,?]
Enter the usergroup names separated by spaces to whom you want to grant read access. If you want to grant read access to a usergroup on a specific node, enter like 'usrgrp1@node1', and if you would like to grant read access to usergroup on any cluster node, enter like 'usrgrp1'. If some usergroups are not created yet, create the usergroups after configuration if needed. [b]
The installer stops VCS processes, uninstalls filesets, installs or upgrades filesets, and configures VCS.
The installer lists the nodes that Veritas recommends you to restart.
The installer displays the location of log files, summary file, and response file.
For instructions to upgrade SFHA, see the Storage Foundation and High Availability Configuration and Upgrade Guide.
If you did not upgrade to 2048 bit key and SHA256 signature certificates in the above procedure, refer to Upgrading to 2048 bit key and SHA256 signature certificates when you upgrade the certificates later.
See Upgrading to 2048 bit key and SHA256 signature certificates.
When you upgrade VCS using the installer program, all zones are upgraded (both global and non-global) unless they are detached and unmounted.
If the non-global zones are not running at the time of upgrade (regular upgrade, phased upgrade, or rolling upgrade) when the installer fails-over the zone service group, then you have to set the Veritas publisher at the global zone and then attach the non-global zone with -u option.
# pkg set-publisher <path to VRTSpkgs.p5p in the media> Veritas # zoneadm -z <zone_name> attach -u
