Removing a node from a VCS cluster

Table: Tasks that are involved in removing a node specifies the tasks that are involved in removing a node from a cluster. In the example procedure, the cluster consists of nodes sys1, sys2, and sys5; node sys5 is to leave the cluster.

  • Back up the configuration file.

  • Check the status of the nodes and the service groups.

  • Switch or remove any VCS service groups on the node departing the cluster.

  • Delete the node from VCS configuration.

Modify the llthosts(4) and gabtab(4) files to reflect the change.

For a cluster that is running in a secure mode, remove the security credentials from the leaving node.

On the node departing the cluster:

  • Modify startup scripts for LLT, GAB, and VCS to allow reboot of the node without affecting the cluster.

  • Unconfigure and unload the LLT and GAB utilities.

  • Remove the Veritas InfoScale filesets.
