Replacing a Veritas InfoScale Enterprise demo license with a permanent license

When a VCS demo key license expires, you can replace it with a permanent license using the vxlicinstupgrade(1) program.

To replace a demo key

  1. Make sure you have permissions to log in as root on each of the nodes in the cluster.
  2. Shut down VCS on all nodes in the cluster:
    # hastop -all -force

    This command does not shut down any running applications.

  3. Enter the permanent license key using the following command on each node:
    # vxlicinstupgrade -k license key
  4. Make sure demo licenses are replaced on all cluster nodes before starting VCS.
    # vxlicrep
  5. Start VCS on each node:
    # hastart
