Configuring a role for volume-level failover

Configuring a role for volume-level failover configures a Hyper-V virtual machine or an application for high availability.

This task involves the following steps:

  1. Configure a role for each Hyper-V virtual machine or an application that you want to configure for high availability.

The wizard creates a resource for the configured role.

  2. Add storage to the configured role to add a cluster-shared volume as a storage resource

The wizard adds a cluster-shared volume resource to the configured role.

  3. For the configured role, set dependency between the two resources

    Note:

You must perform this step only if the host machine runs Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V operating system.

These steps should be performed using Failover Cluster Manager. For details refer to Microsoft documentation.
