Deleting missing volumes from Storage Foundation

You must delete missing volumes from Storage Foundation. This will make the drive letter or mount point available and will remove information about the missing volume that is no longer relevant.

For example delete the DB1 volume. Do not delete the DB1-tlogs volume.

Note:

Before deleting the missing production volumes, note the volume name and drive letter or mount point. You will need this information later on in order to assign the same drive letter to the snapshot volume associated with each missing production volume.

To delete a missing volume using the VEA console

  1. Right-click on the designated volume and select Delete Volume.
  2. You are prompted for verification. Click Yes to delete the volume.

To delete a missing volume using the command line

For the complete syntax of the vxassist delete command, see Storage Foundation Administrator's Guide.
