Description

Step 1

Install Management Server Migration Add-on 6.0 on source and target Management Servers.

Before migrating Management Server, you need to install Management Server Migration Add-on 6.0 on source and target Management Servers.

You can download the latest Add-on to Management Server from the following URL:

For more information on installing Veritas Operations Manager Add-ons, see the Veritas Operations Manager Management Server User Guide.

Step 2

Set up the security configurations on target Management Server.

When you use Management Server Migration Add-on, data that is related to security groups, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) configurations, or Authentication Brokers is not automatically migrated. You need to do the following:

  1. Retrieve the security configuration details from source Management Server.

  2. Manually configure same security configuration setting on target Management Server using the Management Server console.

For more information on configuring Authentication Brokers, LDAP configuration, or security groups, see the Veritas Operations Manager Management Server User Guide.

Step 3

Migrate the historical and the user-defined data from source Management Server to target Management Server.

Export the historical and the user-defined data from source Management Server for migration. After the export, you need to copy the exported data and import it to target Management Server.

Step 4

If source Management Server had Storage Insight Add-on, install the add-on on target Management Server.

If source Management Server had Storage Insight Add-on for deep discovery of arrays, you need to upload and install the add-on on target Management Server after migration.

For more information on uploading or installing Veritas Operations Manager add-ons, see the Veritas Operations Manager Management Server User Guide.

Step 5

Add the managed hosts in source Management Server domain to target Management Server domain.

You need to add the managed hosts in source Management Server domain to target Management Server domain using the Auto Configure ( gendeploy.pl) script available on the Management Server.

Step 6

If source Management Server was associated with a Control Host, configure a Control Host on target Management Server.

If a remote Control Host used to report to source Management Server, you need to configure the same remote Control Host on target Management Server after migration.

If source Management Server was configured as Control Host, you need to configure target Management Server as Control Host after migration. Upload and install Control Host Add-on 6.0 Add-on target Management Server.

For more information on uploading or installing Veritas Operations Manager add-ons, see the Veritas Operations Manager Management Server User Guide.

Step 7

Discover hosts, arrays, and virtual machines.

After migration, you need to discover the information about the hosts, virtual machines, arrays, and switches on target Management Server.

Note:

You cannot add the source Management Server as a managed host to the target Management Server after the migration is complete.
