DETAILS OF INCIDENTS FIXED BY THE PATCH --------------------------------------- This patch fixes the following Veritas incidents: * 3862422 SYMPTOM: Issue 1: This package contains the VCS application management pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP2 required for monitoring SQL Server 2008 configured under VCS in a SCOM environment. Issue 2: In Symantec SQL 2008 Management Pack version 6.0.0, for a newly added SQL instance, you are unable to discover the some properties in the Database engine discoveries. DESCRIPTION: Issue 1: This package contains the Veritas Cluster Server Application Management Pack. With this management pack, you can monitor SQL Server 2008 configured under Cluster Server in a System Center Operations Manager 2012 monitoring environment. Issue 2: In Symantec SQL 2008 Management Pack version 6.0.0, for a newly added SQL instance, you are unable to discover the following properties in the Database engine discoveries: 1) Instance Type 2) Instance ID 3) TCP Port Supported SCOM versions: - Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 SP1 Supported Applications: - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1, SP2 Supported Microsoft SQL 2008 Management Pack version: 6.6.0.0 - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (Discovery) - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (Monitoring) - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Mirroring (Discovery) - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Mirroring (Monitoring) - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (Presentation) RESOLUTION: Issue 1: This package contains the VCS application management pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 required for monitoring SQL Server 2008 configured under VCS in a SCOM 2012 environment. Issue 2: With this package, you can now discover the previously missing properties for the newly added SQL instances. Import the Management Pack. See the Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 documentation for more information. - Verify that Microsoft SQL 2008 management pack version 6.6.0.0 is imported. - Download and import the VCS Library Management Pack on the management server. See the Cluster Server Library Management Pack Guide for System Center Operations Manager for instructions. Install instructions: ++++++++++++++++++++ [1] Download and extract the patch zip file to a temporary location on your system. [2] Log on to the computer with an account that is a member of the Operations Manager Administrators role for the Operations Manager management group. [3] In the Operations Console, click Administration > Management packs. [4] Select "SQL Server 2008 by Symantec" and click Delete in right pane. [5] Import the VCS SQL Server 2008 management pack file, Veritas.SQLServer.2008.mp from temporary location where it was extracted. Note that the VCS SQL Server 2008 management pack requires the original SQL Server 2008 management packs provided by Microsoft. About the VCS SQL Server 2008 management pack ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The VCS SQL Server 2008 management pack contains rules to discover SQL 2008 virtual servers configured under VCS. The VCS SQL Server 2008 management pack also customizes the discoveries that are included in the original SQL Server 2008 management packs provided by Microsoft.
