Overview:

The VEAT Data collector enables collecting information and generating report to assess one target VMware vCenter environment, and obtain insights regarding the infrastructure managed by the vCenter.

Prerequisites for running the Data Collector:

You should install one of the vSphere Command-Line Interface (CLI) versions:

  • vSphere CLI 5.1
  • vSphere CLI 5.5
  • vSphere CLI 6.0

For vSphere CLI 5.1, vSphere CLI 5.5, or vSphere CLI 6.0, see detailed requirements from the following:

  • vSphere CLI 5.1
    This tool supports both 32 bit and 64 bit of the following Linux distributions along with VMware vSphere CLI 5.1 installed on it:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 Server
    • SLES 10 SP1
    • SLES 11
    • SLES 11 SP1
    • Ubuntu 10.04

  • vSphere CLI 5.5 or vSphere CLI 6.0:
    This tool supports both 32 bit and 64 bit of the following Linux distributions:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.3 (Server)
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.5 (Server)
    • Ubuntu 10.04.1 (LTS)
    • SLES 11
    • SLES 11 SP2

Usage:

$ perl veat_data_collector.pl --server <vCenter ip address> --username <username> --password <password>

  • server : vCenter IP Address
  • username : username to login to the vCenter server.
  • password : password for the username
