If a snapshot volume is no longer needed, you can remove it and free up the disk space for other uses by using the vxedit rm
command.
To remove a snapplan and snapshot volume
If the snapshot has not been taken and the snapshot plex (mirror) exists:
# /opt/VRTS/bin/dbed_vmchecksnap -D db -f snapplan -o remove
For example, the following commands will remove a snapshot volume from disk group PRODdg
:
# vxsnap -g PRODdg dis snap_v1
# vxvol -g PRODdg stop snap_v1
# vxedit -g PRODdg -rf rm snap_v1
