Global clustering concepts

VCS provides the global clustering to enable wide-area failover and disaster recovery. Local clustering provides local failover for each site or building. Campus and replicated cluster configurations offer some degree of protection against disasters within limited geographic regions. These types of configurations do not provide protection against outages caused by large-scale disasters such as major floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes that affect an entire city or region. An entire cluster could be affected by such outages.

Global clustering ensures data availability during large-scale disasters. This type of clustering involves migrating applications between clusters over a considerable distance.
