The Veritas Operations Manager Storage Insight Add-on for Deep Array Discovery and Mapping provides you detailed information on the storage enclosures in your datacenter. By bringing you the information to the level of adapters and disks, the Storage Insight Add-on helps you understand your storage enclosures in a much deeper level.
As part of its deep array discovery capabilities, the Storage Insight Add-on provides you options to understand the EMC Symmetrix storage enclosures in your datacenter in a better way. It uses the SymCLI utilities that communicate to the Symmetrix enclosures in your datacenter. The SymCLI utilities must be configured on the control host, which must be part of theVeritas Operations Manager domain.
You can perform deep discovery also for the Symmetrix enclosures that are connected the control hosts using the EMC Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF).
After the Storage Insight Add-on performs the deep array discovery of the Symmetrix enclosures using the SymCLI utilities, you can view the following additional information on the details page of a Symmetrix enclosure:
After you configure deep discovery for an EMC Symmetrix enclosures, the discovery happens once every six hours. After the initial discovery, only the add, remove, commit, resume, suspend, or split actions on the following are captured in the subsequent discoveries:
To configure deep discovery, you must have the domain administrator privilege.
To configure deep discovery for the EMC Symmetrix storage enclosures
In the Veritas Operations Manager console, select Settings > Enclosure Management.
In the Enclosure Management page, click Configure New Device.
In the Configure Device wizard panel to specify the details for the deep discovery, enter the required information. Click Next.

In the Configure Device wizard panel to update discovery information, choose the enclosures and enable the deep array discovery. Click Finish.
