What is SORT?

Veritas™ Services and Operations Readiness Tools (SORT) is a set of web-based tools that optimizes the end to end experience for Veritas products.

SORT offers information for understanding products, eases installation and upgrade, improves operational efficiency, recommends configurations to align to best practices, and enables you to manage the products proactively.

Installation and Upgrade

Pre-checks servers in your environment, and provides latest patches, compatibility lists to ensure trouble-free installations and upgrades.

Installation and Upgrade general checklists

Get recommendations about installing or upgrading the Veritas product you specify. The Installation and Upgrade general checklists list memory, disk space, and architecture requirements for product installation and upgrade. It also provides documents, patches, product features, and HA agents that applicable to the installation or upgrade. The Installation and Upgrade general checklists are useful when you want to install Veritas products on the systems in your data center.

Installation and Upgrade custom reports by SORT data collectors

Download and run SORT data collectors to generate Installation and Upgrade custom reports. The Installation and Upgrade custom reports identify installation and upgrade requirements to tell whether your systems are ready for installation or upgrade. You can upload the Installation and Upgrade custom reports to the SORT websites, where you can view, analyze or share them in a richer HTML format with others.

SORT data collectors gather information about systems in your network. It uses this information to generate the custom reports which contain a list of passed and failed checks and their corresponding details.

Patches

Filter and download patches for your product, version, and platform. List the most downloaded or the latest patches.

You can find Maintenance Releases and patches for the latest InfoScale and SFHA products. For previous releases, you can also find cumulative patches, hot fixes, Maintenance Packs, rolling patches, P-patches, platform releases, point patches, or Service Packs, which types are not used by the latest releases.

Manage Risks

Assesses Veritas product configurations to update environmental parameters, thereby increasing performance, availability, and utilization, and aligning to best practice.

Risk Assessment general checklists

Identify risks during operations, and get configuration recommendations based on the Veritas product and platform you specify. It provides recommendations about availability, configuration, utilization, performance, and best practices.

Risk Assessment custom reports by SORT data collectors

Download and run SORT data collectors to scan your systems and generate Risk Assessment custom reports for identifying risks. Risk assessment custom reports check availability, configuration, utilization, and performance of your system, and recommend best practices for your configurations.

Veritas InfoScale Entitlement Calculator

Calculate the cores you need to convert your existing Storage Foundation SPVU or OS Edition tier license entitlement to InfoScale Per Core entitlement. The calculation helps enable compliance analysis for the Per-Core pricing meter of the Veritas InfoScale product family. The tool also helps you determine the InfoScale product entitlement after the transition to the InfoScale product family. InfoScale products for UNIX may also be licensed by Server Tier. System Performance Value Unit (SPVU) Calculator

The SPVU calculator is a web-based tool to assist you with the pricing meter transition. The total number of SPVU required for a specific product is calculated by multiplying the number of cores the product uses with the SPVU value per core.

Improve Efficiency

Use quick self-service to check issues and expedite root cause analysis. And get the latest documents, HA agents, SCOM Packs, and product and platform information.

Troubleshooting Tools

Run the VxExplorer utility to gather debugging information about systems in your network. You can create new support cases or associate existing support cases to the VxExplorer data, and upload the VxExplorer data to the support SFTP servers for more analysis. You can also run Risk Assessment reports against the VxExplorer data you get. VxExplorer supports the InfoScale family and the Storage Foundation and High Availability family.

Use Veritas Quick Assist to identify common issues, gather data for Support-assisted troubleshooting, and redirect to other customer self-help and Support resources.
