Creating the Oracle database

Create the Oracle database on shared storage. You can use the Oracle Database Creation Assistant (dbca) tool or any other tool to create an Oracle database on shared raw VxVM volumes or shared VxFS file systems.

See Creating a starter database

If you installed the Oracle binaries on shared storage (CFS), Symantec recommends using a different file system for the Oracle datafiles. The VCS Oracle RAC configuration wizard does not support the use of a single file system for the binaries and the datafiles.

See Configuring the service groups using the wizard

Upgrading the databases

If you currently have Oracle databases running and want to migrate them to the latest Oracle patch level, refer to the README.html file downloaded with the patch. The file is located in the /oracle/patch directory.
