About the Enterprise Vault Snapshot and Snapback wizards and the vxsnap utility

If you need to create an individual snapshot set, you can do so either from the command line, using the vxsnap command line utility, or from the VEA console using the Enterprise Vault Snapshot and Snapback wizards.

These methods do not include the capability of scheduling periodic refreshing of the snapshot set. Instead you would need to manually reattach the mirror, allowing it to resynchronize, and then create a snapshot set again from the resynchronized mirror. If you want to keep the snapshot set up to date, you should set up a snapshot schedule using the Enterprise Vault Snapshot Scheduler Wizard.

See Scheduling a new snapshot set.

The vxsnap command can be invoked from any system which is a part of the EV configuration and where the Enterprise Vault Admin service is running. The PowerShell script execution policy should be set to unrestricted and the Veritas Scheduler Service should be configured with users having Administrative privileges.

See Preparing for Enterprise Vault snapshots.
