Oracle can use RAW files for data files, control files and redo logs. Previously, the SQL REUSE clause was ignored if the associated file was a RAW file. From Oracle 10g onwards, the REUSE clause of SQL is mandatory when Oracle Disk Manager (ODM) is enabled.
Workaround: To create database files on raw volumes, you must set the REUSE option in the SQL commands. For examples of error messages and SQL workarounds, see the following Technical Support TechNote:
