Upgrading from VCS 3.5 U3

Perform these steps on all the nodes in the cluster.

 To upgrade to VCS 5.0

1. Take a backup of the main.cf file.
2. Uninstall VCS manually.

   See Removing VCS depots manually.

3. Upgrade the operating system to HP-UX 11.23 PI.
4. Mount the VCS 5.0 software disk and navigate to this directory:

   cd cluster_server

5. Begin the VCS 5.0 installation program:

   ./installvcs

6. Install VCS manually. For details, refer to Installing VCS software manually.
7. The program prompts you to start VCS.

Do you want to start Veritas Cluster Server processes now? 
[y,n,q] (y)
 
  


 If you have an NFS resource configured in the cluster, enter n and do not start VCS here. Edit the main.cf file to:


    


 Remove the IPResName attribute.


 Add the Address attribute, and specify the IP address as the value of this attribute.


 Include details about the NFSRestart agent. 

  Refer to the Veritas Cluster Server Bundled Agents Reference Guide for details about editing the main.cf file. After editing this file, attempt to start VCS.

    


 If you do not have an NFS resource configured in the cluster, enter y to start VCS.
